I guess companies who left them open would getting spammed

. Also, it is probably quite easy to say only local IP's are enabled.

Yeah dunno why no DNS servers are ever open anymore, it's quite annoying.

yeah it is, i have been checking lots too, i didn't know it was this way untill this thread, oh how things have changed :<
