Need help with lag problem :(

Hi,

I run my 2nd account on an DELL Inspiron 5150.. with 768 Mb RAM..

Its a bloody nightmare..

I've been getting really bad lag too. For me it only occurs once the Laptop gets Hot.

The first minute or so Everything is running fine....
Then the little CPU fires up into overdrive, then I get the following symptom...

It runs fine for 5 seconds,
runs slowly for 5 seconds,
It runs fine for 5 seconds,
runs slowly for 5 seconds,
It runs fine for 5 seconds,
runs slowly for 5 seconds,
It runs fine for 5 seconds,
runs slowly for 5 seconds,

Repeat for as many hours I play.

I have timed this and it is a consistant 5 seconds ok, 5 seconds running through treacle.....

This results in my Bot always loosing stick after about 20 seconds of running.

My hypothesis is that DELL have introduced some kind of CPU limiting once the CPU gets to a certain temperature to prevent it damage..

Unfortunately that means that the 3 GHz laptops we have cannot run at 3Ghz at maximum load for very long, and switch to a slower speed to try and prevent catastrophic failure...

Can you check to see if your inspiron is lagging in 5 second intervals specifically? If so I'll get on to DELL as well.. I just hadn't so far because Its a work laptop.

Why are DELL selling Laptops marked as 3 GHz if they cannot sustain a load for more 5 seconds?!?!
