Exchange

Post by Mongfima »

Hi all that remember me

Just updated EQ 2 to log in today and saw the news about SOE Exchange.

Sounds like a bad idea to me, have been thinking about it, and cant really see how it would solve any problem's, also as the game is at the moment, I have personally not experienced any farmer type issues, or heard of any guild members or friends experiences either, the games just too new imo at the moment for it to be an issue, this as some of the posters on the eq forums seem to agree will just provoke it to occur at an increased rate possibly. any how’s, was just wondering if any one here is still playing, and what your views were, link below

P.S, I only just found out prydwen.net was back, great work to all those that made it happen

PPS. Is my memory failing or did the old site have a Planetside section at some point, Any one playing this still?, just got back into it big time, with the two pcs i have its just so awsome as say a tank crew sat side by side. (there is a 30 day free trail on atm, so for the next week or two ive two accounts, so tempted to continue the secound tho)

Hi Geralt,

Sorry to hear about money issues, always a nightmare, Unfortunalty, my characters are NC on Werner, im guessing your on Werner to?

Even if we are on the same server, will have to swap names, so i can wave if i see your corpse or vice versa lol.

You read about the exhange mate ? it looks like a really bad idea imo.

The exchange in EQ2 is quite a good idea. :surprise:

I know, everyone are thinking like it's a virtual world, should be based on your skills not your money pocked. And i agree to them.

But:

Since the start of MMO there allways been auction where you could buy virtual things for real money. It was usualy illegal and there have been quite a number of virtual thieves, who got your money but you have got no item. And try to sue them...

SOE does nothing but accepts facts and tries to lower impact on EQ2 players and developers/support.

Secure, SOE supervised, trading on some servers ensure that you get what you have paid for.
You will know on which server it is enabled and on which it isn't, so you can choose if you want to play on server where people might have items they have bought from others or on "honest" server.
Making this transactions legal might attract more players who wants to sell or buy items or accounts they want for money but they were afraid of getting banned. And thanks to that it might lower numbers of buyers on eBay, which even might (in best case) lead to taking EQ2 trading out of other eshops, thus effectively lowering virtual thefts.

Only thing that worries me is how they will decide if enable currect server to be trading allowed or not. Since there would be, if i read the letter right, options YES, NO, Don't Care, i would like to see that they would count Don't Care as like half NO ;)
aka 35% yes, 30% no, 35% don't care. In this case it would be opened since yes>no but: People who don't care usualy have no idea of impact on playing. So if they would cut those 35% in half and add to NO option, it would be 35% yes vs 47.5% no. This way it would more protect game.

And of course allow people who woted NO to move away in case the server would be enabled :)

Well, hopefully i have made myself clear :)
