Spread betting on the price/rate of a post, with a mod setting the price (rating)? Hehe now ive seen it all now.

Incidentally this would in effect not be a rating system per say, ie people would not be rating a post as they saw fit (yes the rating of a post is ultimately subjective) but rather attempting to forecast how the mod will rate it/what the price will be.

It amounts to a rating system not decided by the community but really just the mod/s setting the ratings of posts, and the rest of the communty having a flutter on what the mod will do. Could get a little boring tbh.

It seems similar to having an electoral system where after the vote the successful candidate [edit] can be [/edit] decided by the government & the voter then rewarded or punished according to wether or not they had voted for the candidate which the government decided on.

Or to put it another way ... unless you're certain that your vote will be as close as possible to that of the government then you're better off not voting at all.

Well anyway .. I guess it's time for me to STFU because I think I've stated my opinion more than enough. Maybe we should just see how it works out.

[Edited to placate a Sweet Wench :D]

It wasn't my intention to lash out at any mods in any way whatsoever as I like & respect the way in which these forums are modded so I apologise if it came across that way :(

Well moderators don't rate every post.

In any case, I am considering making it so that moderators work just like everyone else and putting in an artificial 10 bids at 500 for every post. That way an unrated post will get a score of 500.

In effect, yes, right here:
Banana wrote:Moderators would only step in if people are acting childish over it such as rating a post as a flame post just cause they dont like the person.
You seem to be able to tell if someone dislikes someone else just by how they rate a post. Or if they are acting childish.
Any futher questions?
Just one - is there anyone other than Lairiodd and yourself who thinks this system is a good idea?

Looking through this thread, I see people saying it's confusing, others disliking the Flame<->Very Informative scale of rating, some asking if there's any point to it, and then people such as myself who dislike it for a variety of reasons.
