Thing is though, an interface is just an interface. Not a lot more they can do to present your character stats and hotkeys, compass etc. in a way that's going to be all that different than anything before.
Likewise, with the scenery and graphics, because it's based on earth-type scenery, it's not going to look much different than DAoC etc.
It's LotR. It's Middle Earth. There are Hobbits, Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Goblins, Wizards, Dragons etc. etc. You're not going to be able to diversify without being unfaithful to Tolkien's books. If anything, LotRO is bringing us back to what was probably the inspiration behind a lot of D&D games—DAoC, Warhammer and WoW included. So maybe it's more accurate to say that those games are just clones of LotR in its original form? So who is copying who?
