Well, at least that's one thing we have in common... we both dislike the French. But that's my human side speaking and is quite un-Christian of me, because The Bible tells us that we are all equal.

The fact is, from a Christian point of view, we all deserve to go to hell and just because I'm a Christian doesn't mean that my human nature is altered in any way so that I am flawless. On the contrary, I still have all my old failings and am still prone to letting my human nature get the better of me. In other words, I still am a sinner. The good thing is though, that all of my sins have been forgiven, including those I will undoubtedly commit in the future. When Jesus died on the cross for us all, he died so that all sins might be forgiven. All we need to do is acknowledge that fact before God. God loves the sinner, but hates the sin. That's why Christians can say (rather arrogantly at face value) that they are certain they're going to Heaven. So I know definitely that I'm not going to hell. Yes, it takes a certain leap of faith to get to that point, but it's within everyone's grasp.

But going back to the French, I will say one thing I admire about them is that they don't stand for any nonsense. They aren't afraid to protest or go on strike if they feel their government is trying to introduce controversial laws and there have been occasions when the French government have had to back down. Wish the British were like that.

ok if i get this right then you are saying that all christians no matter what they do in life will go to heaven and their sins are forgiven just cos jezus died at the cross? And all none christians that get upto something wont get forgiven and go to hell?
Oh and what about the ppl that got christened but live a life not according to the bible and gave up on the religious shit? They are christened so on paper they christians what about them?

Here is a little saying that has been used by Methodist Christians for several centuries:-

All can be saved.
All must be saved.
All can know they are saved.
All can be saved to the uttermost.

In other words, take the vilest, most horrible, inhuman sin you can think of. Even THAT can be forgiven. That may sound a bit unbelievable, but if for one moment you accept the existence of God, wouldn't it be the most wonderful thing in the whole world that if you knew you had done something really bad or evil, that God had forgiven it?

you didnt answer my question Gandy. If ppl are born and get baptised they are (on paper) christian. Like me. If i kill somebody that means i'll be forgiven and go to heaven? Or wont i be cos i dont live a christian life? Mass murderers, rapists, childabusers blabla get forgiven if they are christians? But if they are christians and do commit a massive crime like that, arent they going against everything that stands for christianity?

Frankly Gandelf it sounds pretty damn dangerous. The whole reason islamic extremist suicide bombers blow themselves up is because they think they'll go to heaven so it doesn't matter how much carnage they cause. I'd like to think people in this country aren't so stupid as to think there are no consequences for what we do.
