Nana Review = Hoodwinked - Click - Stormbreaker

Post by Lieva »

Stormbreaker
Alex Rider. Orphaned at a yound age he is brought up by his uncle. Leading a normal life,he is unawares his uncle is actually a spy for mi6. When his uncle gets killed, Alex is suspicious of circumstances and tracks agents to mi6 location where he is blackmailed into becoming a spy and given the chance to complete the mission his uncle was murdered on.

People have slated this one whilst the reviewers have said it was good. Normally when a reviewer (of a professional nature) says a film is good..its normally best to run far away or wait til it comes out on DvD. I wanted to watch this on the cinema but never did. Im regretting I didnt now.
It reads like the awful films like 'Spykids' but its actually very good. Alex plays the part of a moody teenager very well. Although the acting seems a bit OTT at times..it actually goes well with the film. After all. it IS a 14 yr old kid taking on adult villans :)

9/10 :)

Hoodwinked
A take on the litle red riding hood story, this film asks why did the wolf dress in grandmas clothes? Why did Red decide to go visit her? What was the axe man doing bursting through the window? and why does granny not want Red to visit her?

As Detective Flipper says "when a tree falls in the forest there is 3 possible stories. The tree, yours and mine"

The cgi animation is very good. It doesnt attempt to be realistic which (unfortunatly) is where CGI often fails. Its an interesting take on an old well known story and some places will surprise you. I love it how they link all 4 stories together :) As in most recent films, the talking squirrel is a maniac. However to get a better manic squirrel you are perhaps better off watching over the hedge.
All in all 8/10

Click
Seems straight to DvD film (i blinked when it was in cinema??) Adam sandler plays man who's boss keeps asking him to put his work first and his family last. Struggling at best he meet a wacky salesman (played by christopher walkin) who grants him an amazing gift. A universal remote.

Like Hoodwinked - parts are predictable, however it doesnt spoil the film.
Its similar to 'Bruce Almighty' however with the difference, bruce almighty left me with the feeling - it could have been so much better. Click, of cause it could have been improved but it was ok as it was :)
Christopher Walkin didnt seem comfortable in his role however which was sad as he is an ok actor :)
All in all 7/10

saw click at the cinema cos we already saw everything else they played we went to watch that. It sucks donkeyballs. I'm getting sick of all the adam sandler movies tbh its one after the other and it gets boring. Not to mention all the movies where david hasslehof turns up.

Cos it was not as entertaining as the CGI movies usually are + it had some quite bad graphics too at some points. It was funny, but it felt like if they started to run out of ideas pretty soon in the movie.

And Click...well.. I think I laughed 2-3 times when I saw it..it felt like something they would show on telly on a sunday afternoon for kids.

Woot? No No No!!!! Bruce Allmighty is an excellent movie - click is far from good.

Bruce Allmighty have some nice religious humour - while click has pretty childish humor. Also, Jim Carrey is waaaaay better than Adam Sandler. It's not that I dislike Adam Sandler, but almost all of his movies start out well but seem to be made by somebody who had good idea - but no idea how to finish a movie. While Jim Carrey is one of the best!

Ahh, fair enough. But movie wise Bruce Allmighty is much much better than Click. Click was a funny idea which imo didnt really work well.

..unfortunatly thats how it goes with most Adam Sandler movies. :(
