Wtf!!!!

A little birdie who shall remain unnamed has recently told me that admins on pryd.net can spy on people's personal messages to each other sent through the 'private' function of this forum.

So it begs the question, why the hell do you have private message functions when admins can wilfully check/spy on what you are saying to each other wilfully when the whole content of the conversation has nothing to do with the admins?

actually..you can check on most things...it requires going through lots and lots of code which is actually stored on the server.
I asked Ayana about it ages ago..it takes a lot of time just to check one thing.
I doubt any of the admin/mods are that bored to spend one month to check into personal mail

I did start a roumer a while back to make my evil-side happy that mods/admin can check mail easily

Its not true but funny to see peoples reactions

Of course we can but we don't and that's the difference.

We could send all your e-mail addresses to the mafia for spamming purposes as well as grab any passwords used for accounts here if for some reason we really felt the need, but again we do not and will not do these things. Apart from the fact it'd require effort, which is something that is lacking from just about every mod/admin on this board there's also little point.

On this note, it's worth noting that just about all online services could do this, GOA could in fact also read all your private chats in DAoC if they really wanted to also. If you're really that paranoid perhaps using the net is something worth avoiding altogether.

half the reason was to stop people chatting re me on these forums and to make them think twice before gossiping

Actually Got the idea from GOA. Peeps had said to me ever since i started DAOC that GOA read everyones personal messages and that you had to be careful and stuff else your private chat could end up on a website somewhere

see...people are so terrified at being caught doing something bad (even tho they will deny its bad) that they get paranoid
