Hey all you music recorders out there - recently started recording some songs onto my PC using free progs like Audacity but lets just say i "acquired" a copy of eMagic Logic 5.10 and frankly im really baffled by it. It dosent seem to have any options for selecting my input device (my cool webcams microphone) or anything like that and the language it uses is kinda advanced. Wanted to try and get a better sound quality so thats why im not using Audacity.

Anyone here record music onto there PC and can recommend good programs / advice? dont want perfect perfect sound quality but has to be decent - and i guess a lot of that relies on my mic.

Why not perfect if you can get perfect? Assume you just want to try the trial of it before you bu... download an illegal copy of it.

Ofc, Im guessing 95% of the quality is on the mic + other equipent you have. I'd guess the biggest difference between the programs is features.

Aye, Im pretty sure the mic is the major part in the quality you get.

i used Limewire to "acquire" a copy of eMagics Logic Platinum Pro 5.10. You can get some pretty decent freeware stuff on the net though if you dont want to break the law. Try Audacity. Its pretty basic but easy to use etc.

And my experience with recording electric is that you have to have the recording vol levels JUST right otherwise you get screaming feeback. Using an acoustic mostly for home recording stuff it sounds really nice :)

Ok cheers, have an acoustic and an electric now so should be a prob :) Wanted to start getting to grips with the more electric stuff and recording on that a bit to, Will have to have a play around with the volume then :)

you can pick up lots of plug ins for free and "free" to get a nice distortion if your mic is getting too much feedback from amp. definately trying electric tbh it all depends on mic qual and sound card quality.

good luck - really enjoying writing my own songs at the moment , can get a really unique sound recording from home :)
