Okay so normal people might call this thread sad or rather feel I'm just insane but I'm sure the techies amongst us will understand :p today my favourite machine died, an old P200, he'd been running at 98 degrees celsius for a few months now but quite honestly I couldn't be arsed to do anything about it and he seemed happy enough anyway! We used him for running MAT (Meridian Administration Tool) phone switch config. software and so of course, what better name to call him than Mat! There's more to it than simply a server dying though, the software version on the exchange itself is a little buggy so every once in a while random people's phones ring with nothing on the end of the line, however me and a colleague somewhat eerily get these calls on a daily basis but at a random time each day but we just like to beleive that Mat is calling to check we're ok, when my colleague was off work once Mat even called him 3 times in one day, obviously upset that he wasn't in.

R.I.P. Mat, we salute you!

Mat was like a friend to all of us, he was always there when you needed somebody to talk to and he never lost his temper (well, technically he did I guess :P). Im sad to see him die but he had lived a life longer than most other cpu's have. May he rest in peace!

I feel I can't just let Mat die, I might have to transplant his memory (hard drive :p) elsewhere so he can live again in a new body, but Windows 95 being switched over to a different hardware config, it'll be a long difficult struggle to revive him :p

windows 95 will detect new hardware if u do a transplant iirc, unlike NT which will just blue screen and tell u to fo. so just get rdy with driver disks ;)

months of suffering does sound like ill treatment at the very end of a lenghty relationship tho. I wouldnt be suprised if Mat suddendly called you at home, a dark and rainy night.
