I hope that those who have access to IP addresses on the forum regard that as confidential.
The DAOC code of conduct advice to users says 'We strongly advise you never to give personal information that could be used to identify you (social security number, telephone number, home address, etc.) to anyone you do not know.' I don't know how much you can tell from tracking an IP address but in the past I've had problems in an online game with someone rather on the obsessed and unstable side. I would have been really worried if he was able to track me down in real life, so I take the DAOC advice seriously.

the only thing i can see is who IP is from who. I cant see anything more, and I dont want to see or know anything more. And with tracking down ... its not even tracking down just check the user profile and the IP is shown there. The IP thing is easy if someone is for eg perma banned and starts a second account here on pryd.net on same IP adress, then its obvious its the same person again and easy to bann again.
Dont worry i'm clueless when it comes to technical stuff like this

Yes they are treated confidentially. Only Mods have access to this information and they will not give them away without a very good reason and permission.
Your IP adress is safe
Satyn should not have made that comment and i think she realises it...altho it is a tad to late atm
no one who has access to any private information on these boards would share it with anyone else
I appreciate that, thanks Banana. Sorry, but having been faced with someone smashing keyboards and things in real life, I developed nerves in this area.
Oh, and who is going to pay any attention to posts from someone who makes a new forum identity just to jeer at people? Silly person.

And, if I may add, IPs are nothing special. They change all the time.
But why is Satyn trying to "track" me? It's not like he is going to find anything informative from my IP.
