Cryn sorry but i have to correct you :p haha The mods can see if someone has been given a - rating or a + rating. I've been giving ppl a + rating again if i see that a - has been given just for fun. I dont do that with friends or with ppl i know, i do that with everyone. And while your rating has dropped so did mine yesterday altho i was a bit shocked to see that it went up again overnight!

So dont think I only did it to Quin, i do it for a lot of ppl that make very serieus reasonable post but where some very childish ppl just rate - for fun.

(and now i have given xest a reason again to disagree with the rating :p)

Who knows ]Moderators here, including me, try to do their best. I can furthermore promis you we will make mistakes (and tbh any mod action will be frowned upon by someone).

If you want to flame a mod just flame me. I think i am the one, besides prob Xest, that doesnt care that much about what some person xxx miles away thinks of me. So feel free to have a hack at me but do expect one back since OohoO had a valid point of recent mods changing their posting habbits.

True not everyone can just read things and go on like nothing happened. Some of the ppl on these boards and in the game have to realise they are dealing with real ppl who have real feelings.

I will also make mistakes in the future, but ppl learn from their mistakes.

So pls use Quin and Xest as a target to fire your angre at they love it! ;)

On the subject of moderating ratings (regarding the posts made by Satyn and Banana about "correcting" negative ratings) am I to understand a rating is more an expression of what the mods think of posts rather than what another user thinks of posts?

If a rating is given that the mod would have made it stands, but if the mod would not have rated it that way it gets adjusted? That does seem to rather undermine the value of ratings since they are not then indicative of what other users really think of your posts.

Yesterday when mine was dropping, it could only drop because the mods let it drop? If I I was viewed more positively by them, they would have adjusted it upwards?

If this questions are going to cause too much trouble just ignore them. I'm more curious than anything.

Voted on 3rd option, i dont think that baby sitting which goes atm is a normal way. if someone is goin very pissed what he reads on a internet board, he shouldnt use internet at all - and i do beleive nowhere should make the limits to the guy who has the lowest limits on that matter (for example he is slow, or cant take any negative stuffs).
Regarding rating system - i give a shit on that, pointless as it clears day by day, and anyway, why i would care what thinks about me an unknown guy somewhere in the world behind a nick ? lol.

this is a hard one to answer but i'll do my best.

To answer your question: did your rating drop cos we let it drop? No not at all. Ppl cant see if someone has been voting positive or negative on you. So if 1 person on this forum has it in for you and votes - on all your posts then it will drop fast. Mods can see if someone has voted - or + we just cant see who did the rating only what the result is.
I noticed that someone voted - on a lot of your posts also on quins and on mine. I cant change my own rating. And i cant change anyone else's rating. All i can do is when there is -1 on one of your posts give you a + rating so the -1 makes 0 again. (does this make sense?) If two ppl voted - on your post then it will make -2, if i give you a + rating then it will bring you to -1 but thats all i can do about it. (wich i have been doing)

What the actuall meaning of the rating system is i'm not really sure about that one. I tend to take a neutral stand in it cos i think if its used in a mature way then its pretty nice if ppl like what you are doing of if they feel they like your post then can give you a + rating. If for eg someone makes a post with 1000 smilies i'm sure ppl will vote - on that person.
But since once again its been shown that ppl cant use the rating system in a mature way ... i'm starting to agree more and more with xest.

So what we want is light moderation including censorship of offensive language, punishing only the most serious offences, following a defined ruleset, based on a moderators personal judgement.

6 of those 100 think we are 'evil'

sooo i guess we're not that bad :)
I don't think the mods are evul, just don't agree with them at times. Twice really once with Xest and once with Quil.

P.S. for the sinik cynic's out there it's just coincidence that I have 2 warnings.

Cryn, the key is more that if there's a post that is blatantly positive and has been given a negative post for no possible reason other than a personal grudge by someone against that person or because someone just felt like being annoying then the mods will repair it. They wont just go and fix EVERY negative post because well, as you mentioned some people can interpret some posts in different ways, but again the key is that not all posts can really be interpreted as negative no matter how you try and spin it. Examples (and no they're not fact, it's all made up :p):

"Yes, you need at least 1fg to kill Leviathan"

"I'm running an ML7 raid tommorrow, there's no other raids on to conflict with. Here are the details blah blah blah"

"There's a new virus out that you all might want to watch out for, the patch is available here"

"Here's my nightshade template, anyone got any improvements for it?"
