they are funny, I do think the list of ratings should be removed that sort of thing really ought to be private and for the mods only to see. One of the things the system might do is provide a way for self censorship except in the case of Heta ;p but then that exception also proves the rule doesn't it?

Why does it suck? what difference does it make to your posting? There will always be people who disapprove of some posts. With or without the system it is still the same. The difference with no system is that you dont actually see it but it still is the same situation. Is that such a big difference to stop posting over?

Yes it is, there will be people doing the best to find every post of the people they dislike just to give negative points and same with people they like. I cant really see any reason why we should have this silly system at all. And yes, I wont bother to post (which some people might appriciate). It's supposed to be a board where you feel welcome, but when you start getting negative numbers ever post you make just cos somebody dislike you (no matter what they think of your post) atleast I wont feel welcome. And there you go, my reason why I wont bother with this board as long as you got this system. Call me childish/silly/stupid or what ever you feel like calling me...but this is how feel about this whole system.
What I've seen so far, the system is genuinly used for rating postive and negative posts and thus might give the ones with bad posts something to think about. I'm hoping this system will improve the posting quality overall.
Maybe make it possible for Moderators to see who voted negative. If someone suspects someone is purposely harassing with neg votes, (for example when he gets a - on a decentish post), the mod can look it up and see if there's a voting pattern for that specific person.
I am GM for a big guild
All my guildies love me (OK not true but its a hypothetical example)
I post and 100 guildies agree with me so my rating soars through the roof
2 people disagree but they're voices are lost in the crowd even tho it may be a valid point
Also
as the general negatives decrease as more folks disagree, you can bad rep someone by putting a negative on lots of different posts by that person therefore the more you post, the more you open yourself up to being bashed if you tend to make controversial but valid posts
Take for example Adalyn, lots dont agree with his auction prices etc but the items still sell. 10 folks take it upon themselves to put a negative against as many of his posts as they can find and he instantly become scum of the universe.
Not attempting to completely smash the system apart or anything just making observations

Since when do you mind what ppl think of you? I wont call you childish, silly, stupid or any of those very nice suiting names for you but i will tell you that i think you're blowing things up a bit (much). To boycot a board just cos a feature doesnt suit you is a bit over the top imo.

mmm I agree with this. Its a good idea if you think about it but it has its bad sides aswell.
