What is wrong with UK police?????

Just phoned my mother in law and they were on their way back home from England with Sybren with them

I had him on the phone and he sounded ok. So glad he's back home again. Poor thing

Just hope he loses his visitation rights ... but the problem is that Sybren adores his father. So it might be a relief for everyone in the family if he doesnt see his son anymore it wont be a good thing for Sybren

Really hope they lock him up for a long time. Its bad what he did but its even worse if you involve you're 10 year old son in it. And thats what pissing me off.

The little guy is home now, which is good. I'm also glad they didn't put him with Ankh for 2 days, cause that would've been really dramatic for the kid

As for my ex brother in law, hope they keep him there for a long time. It's not normal imo to take ur 10-year old son with u when ur smuggling drugs. That is something the kid has to live with the rest of his life.

I feel for the kid but don't think the police did anything wrong. I think our police force is doing a bloody good job considering all the crap they get from chavs. Even in the case of the Brazilian guy who got shot which is far more serious than this I think they did the right thing, if you're chasing someone with a gun shouting stop armed police and they carry on running - straight onto a train a day after 3 attempted train bombings I think the guy deserved to get shot.

As for the penalties though he'll probably be out in like a year (which is potentially a year less than someone hacking into a corporate computer without even doing any damage I might add) on good behaviour or something knowing our retarded prison sentences. Shame our justice system isn't as good as our policing system, kinda puts a downer on the good work our police force is doing.

In fairness, that is what the phone call is for ... even if he wasted it. You use it to get whatever needs to be organised organised. Presumably any sane custody judge will strip custody from anyone who doesn't put their child before their job in a situation like that. Btw, in the end how were you contacted ? Did the foster parents get your family's number or something ?

Not like it's the only way he could pass a message either. His lawyer or the Belgian consul could have contacted the family if they were asked.

Also, the welfare of the kid prolly falls into the remit of social services, not the police.
