Lifetime subs may sound like a bargain but there's got to be good business sense behind offering such a thing. What happens if the only users that remain after 2 years, 3 years, 4 years or even 5 years are lifetime subs users who only paid the equivalent of a years subs for their lifetime subscript...

Lifetime subs would act as a disincentive to actually update the game. They might make the company more money than normal subs, but only if people over-estimate how long they will play for. They could allow you recover say 25% of the sub if you decide to end it within 2 years to help with that effec...

Btw, what is the story with getting a US account, I assume it means that any updates or expansions (and the initial release itself) are delayed by 1-2 weeks due to delivery ? (though I guess you could get a 'friend' to send you the keys etc).

Well, the only connection to daoc for me is this forum ... and the house I periodically log on to keep the rent paid for :).
